By Odira Nwachukwu Awka

Early this morning being April 19, 2021, Unknown Gunmen attacked the Zone 13 Police Headquarters in Ukpo Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
As at the time our Awka correspondent got to the scene, the building very close to the main entrance gate and some vehicles were still blazing, even though the State Fire Service arrived the scene shortly after to quench the fire and prevent further damages.
The police officers in charge were so security tensed that they barred reporters from gaining access into the main buildings, let alone obtain any reasonable interview from any reliable source.
An eyewitness that preferred anonymity informed that three Mobile policemen lost their lives in the incident.
Several cars both belonging to the Nigerian Police Force and some belonging to private citizens parked at the Police Headquarters were also set ablaze by the Unknown Gunmen.
A citizen of the state Mr Augustine Mbakwe while lamenting the state of insecurity in the state said “I cry for my state. Just few days ago, bandits shot sporadically in front of First Bank Ogbunike/Ogidi, killing people and burning cars. Same time similar incident happened in front of First Bank, Abagana. Just yesterday, three youths were gunned down at Ifite Awka in broad daylight. Today, it’s a whole zonal command on fire.
“My consolation is that we will soon have the opportunity to elect another government for Ndi Anambra.”
Another report reaching newwavereporters.com said that the Uzuakoli Police Station in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State was also attacked this morning by Unknown Gunmen.
