Val Ozigbo emerges PDP flag bearer

Valentine Chinto Ozigbo has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party’s flag bearer for the Anambra State governorship election slated for November 6, 2021.

In the just concluded primaries of the PDP held at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Center Akwa, Ozigbo garnered 62 votes to beat his closest rival Obiorah Okonkwo who came second with a total of 58 votes.

According to results monitor online by our correspondent total vote cast were 201 out of which three were declared void.

This is how all the candidates fared: Walter Okeke – 2 votes, Chidi Onyemelukwe — 2 votes, Valentine Ozigbo — 62 votes, Uche Ekwunife — 44 votes, Winston Udeh — 12 votes, Godwin Maduka — 5 votes, Obiora Okonkwo — 58 votes, Chris Azubogu — 10 votes, Genevieve Ekwochi — 3 votes, Voided Votes: 3.


A total of 16 aspirants bought the Party’s declaration of intent and nomination forms, Emeka Etiaba SAN, Hon Tony Nwoye and Hon Chuma Nzeribe withdrew from the race in the past 48 hrs, while Senator Ugochukwu Ubah emerged the candidate of a parallel congress held today at Paul University Awka.

With this result Val Ozigbo has joined Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of Young Progressive Party YPP, and of course Senator Ugochukwu Ubah the PDP factional candidate as those who have emerged as their party’s flag bearers for the election.
