Unknown gunmen attack Rivers State, Seven cops feared killed

It was a bloody night in Rivers State, from late Friday May 7, to the early hours of today Saturday May 8, as rampaging gunmen attacked security checkpoints and police stations in the state, with no fewer than seven security operatives feared killed.

The police station along the Rumuji axis of the East-West Road in the state was attacked by the unknown gunmen.

Also, the Rumuji police station in Emuoha Local Government Area was also torched, two policemen feared killed, while some vehicles were burnt.

A police checkpoint at Ogbakiri junction in the Emuoha LGA of the state was equally attacked, with two policemen feared killed and a vehicle burnt.

A checkpoint of the security outfit called C-4-i along the East-West Road was also attacked, even as three operatives were feared killed there.

Recall that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, had earlier imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in the state to help cub the incessant attacks of the unknown gunmen on security checkpoints and police stations in the state.
