Tops of our Social media trends for Saturday 29th May, 2021 was JusticeForComfortBenjamin with 25,000 reactions.
Nigerians on social media are trending the hashtag JusticeForComfortBenjamin, for a 16-year-old girl, Comfort Benjamin, who was reportedly abducted, raped, and murdered by unknown persons in Jos, Plateau State.
Those who reacted to the trend called on security agencies to unravel the identities of those who perpetrated the dastardly act and ensure they are prosecuted.
The trend got over 25,000 reactions.
The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, was called out on social media after some news media credited him with a statement that says”Nigerians will appreciate Buhari better after his tenure in 2023.”
Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, stated this via a statement issued to mark the sixth anniversary of the current administration.
According to Adesina, the milestone recorded by President Buhari’s government has afforded an “opportunity to reflect, and recount on the impact that has been made (and is being made) on different sectors of national life.”
But many who reacted to the news seemed to disagree with the presidential aide, maintaining that insecurity occasioned by herdsmen, bandits, kidnappers, and terrorists, pose the greatest challenge to socio-economic development in the country.
About 7,000 tweets followed the trend.
Reactions have trailed viral videos and photos of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, in a warm embrace with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, as the latter arrived Nigeria via the MMIA, Lagos.
These are what a cross-section of Nigerians said about the development:
@obi_Nwosu: “I am not surprised that Tinubu received Atiku at the airport yesterday. Both men have been allies in business and politics for decades.”
@Golden_ayomide: “ATIKU helped TINUBU get to the top if you don’t know. During the time he was the VICE PRESIDENT to OBASANJO.”
@TonyUgowe: “I feel young Nigerians especially the thugs should learn from these guys even though they are political rivals they are still friends & business allies. So whoever thinks he’s doing them a favour by picking up arms against his fellow Nigerian in the name of politics is just a big fool.”
@abdulAz87612488: “This is the dynamism of politics. It’s not all about throwing punches all the time, your cognitive astute does the hatchet job for you to become whatever you want to become.
“I’m neither their fan nor their foe, but just learned the better part of them.”
