The Police in Osun State on Friday, June 11, 2021, dispelled a report that gunmen invaded the College of Health Technology, Ilesha and kidnapped some students of the institution.
Reports of attack on College of the school was circulating on social media at the late hours of Thursday that bandits invaded Ilesha community and kidnapped some students of Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesha.
However, the Police commissioner, Mr Olawale Olokode while addressing newsmen at Police Headquarters, Osogbo urged the public to discountenance the report saying it is fake and untrue.

Olokode explained that “bandits did not invade Ilesha nor kidnap any student in Ilesha community. We heard the report and we investigated, we found out that some people triggered the fake news and started sharing it via Whatsapp platforms. When the Yoruba community and Hausa community heard the fake news they started arming themselves against the attack. But the news is fake.”
CP warned that those peddling fake news should desist from it because it creates unnecessary tension in the state.
“Fake news is very disastrous and calamitous. Whatever information that will be pass should be authenticated otherwise it will ruin us. I want to assure you that nothing like invasion and kidnapping in Ilesha,” he added.
