Nigeria is fast becoming a failed state ~ Peter Obi

Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has advised Nigerians, irrespective of party affiliations, to join hands in tackling the challenges facing the country.

Obi who ran for Vice President in the 2019 general elections listed the challenges as insecurity, poverty, and unemployment.

According to him, Nigeria is fast becoming a failed state, adding that the downward spiral should not be allowed to continue.

Peter Obi stated this while addressing PDP leaders in Ihiala Local Government Areas on Wednesday April 28, 2021, in the course of his meet the people tour of the 21 local government areas of the State.

“All Nigerians, irrespective of party and other affiliations, should immediately join hands to tackle the spectre of insecurity, poverty, and unemployment that are now ruling and ruining our dear country. We are fast becoming a failed state”.

“The situation in our country will not get better any time soon.

“Because when you don’t know when or where the next meal will be coming, you’ll be forced to steal, get into crimes of all sorts.“There are millions of graduates in our society doing nothing.


Speaking further in Ozubulu the headquarters of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, the man who the people love to call Okwute, said, that the rot in public administration is heartbreaking, while urging the electorates to shun material influence and elect credible leaders.

While in Nnewi North LGA in the course of the same tour, he had this to say, “anyone who finds himself in a position of authority and decides to steal public funds is abusing the grace of God;” he also called for transparent and credible elections.

In Ukpor the headquarters of Nnewi South LGA, the party leader, called for peace among members and stakeholders, urging them to shun their differences and unite in view of common interest.

On Thursday April 29, 2021,His Excellency Mr Peter Obi arrived Awka South LGA in continuation of his ongoing tour of wards and local government areas of the state. Where he emphasized to the delegates and party leaders in the local government area on the need to elect someone that is resilient, brave and prepared to win the general election and improve the lot of Anambrarians.

The same day while in Awka North LGA, Mr Peter Obi pointed out infrastructural projects done by his administration in the LGA and called for caution in choosing public officers in view of proper development of the state and the various constituencies.

He had earlier during his visit at Isuaniocha Awka North LGA called for a minute silence in honour of the late Mgbakwu born Commissioner for Agriculture during his administration as governor, Chief Godson Ezenagu (Ochendo Mgbakwu).

📌His Excellency Mr Peter Obi had to breach protocol by expanding his itinerary to condole with Barr Franklin Nwakor at Umudioka village Awka over the loss of his parents. He got the information about the occasion on his way to Njikoka.
