Keep your offer, free Nnamdi Kanu, Fr Mbaka tells FG delegation

The spiritual director of the Adoration Ministries Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has once again reacted to the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, when he told a delegation from the federal government that the only offer acceptable to him is freedom for Kanu.

Mbaka said, the IPOB leader is not a murderer and a terrorist as no one has ever caught him carrying guns.

The renowned Christian leader made this known during a special service at the adoration ground on Sunday, July 11, 2021. He said Kanu should be released because his arrest has not in anyway stop the killings being recorded in the country.

He said, “since you arrested him (Kanu) we have lost many lives. So, of what use is his arrest? After he was arrested, the kidnaping didn’t stop in the north. Many students were kidnapped in Kaduna last week. Where were our security agencies? Why can’t they use the same temerity to arrest all those people doing these killings? Arresting Nnamdi Kanu will not solve the problem”.

Mbaka blamed the rising insecurity in the country on politicians who pay huge sums of money to buy arms for political thugs to manipulate elections.

He added, “Most of the politicians will buy arms and ammunition and give it to millions of youth and after the elections, no one collects the ammunitions back. There is ‘herdsmenism’, people have abandoned the villages and there are no jobs. Peoples’ farms are ravaged and they are kidnapped and killed. His arrest aggravates the problem”.

In the video uploaded through his official Facebook page, Mbaka specifically between 1:00:00 -1:17:22 timeline of the video, spoke at length about how some government officials had approached him last week and held a meeting with him for about two hours.

The priest disclosed that the officials told him they were sent to give him an offer of two slots for a job, but he rejected the slots and told them he has an offer he would rather prefer than the said slots.

Mbaka said he told the officials that the offer he would want them to grant him, is to free detained Nnamdi Kanu.

He lamented and said Kanu’s re-arrest is of no use because his detention has not made banditry and kidnapping activities to stop, but rather it has been on the increase in the northern states.

He said, ” Nnamdi Kanu is not a murderer. No one has ever caught him carry guns. Have they seen him kill anybody?”

“Specifically, I told them the offer I want is for them to you release Nnamdi Kanu”

“I told them to rather expend the same vigour and intelligence they used in arresting Kanu towards bandits and terrorists disturbing the country.

“The government should rather arrest the cause of agitations all around the country, rather than arresting individuals.”

“The real cause of agitations is that people are not happy, there’s hunger in the land and the youths are idle.

“I cannot support terrorism. There is agitation everywhere. All the men of God are agitating silently. The police and the army are agitating. Do you blame them? If they talk, they will be killed. In the mosque, there is agitation. You don’t arrest the agitation, you arrest the cause of it. People are hungry and angry. Millions are idle and idle hand is the devil’s workshop”.

Recall that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, had claimed that operatives of Nigeria’s security intelligence intercepted Nnamdi Kanu and extradited him to Nigeria.

Kanu’s family lamented that he was abducted in Kenya for 8days and brought to Nigeria by the Nigerian government. Few weeks ago, Kanu was blindfolded and sneaked into the courtroom before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, by the operatives of the Department of State Security Services, DSS, in handcuffs while his legs were also chained.
