Reno Omokri, former presidential aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has quried the President Muhammadu Buhari-led goverment for sanctioning and suspending Channels television for granting an interview to the spokesman of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Recall that the IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful, was granted interview by the Channels television ‘Sunday Politics’ program on Sunday April 25, 2021, over the operations of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, and the killing of its commander, Ikonso, by the combined team of the DSS, Police and the Nigerian army on Saturday, April 24, 2021.
Reacting over the Channels television sanction, Reno Omokri said,
“How can you suspend Channel’s Television for granting an interview to an IPOB spokesman, yet retain Dr Isa Ali Pantami as minister, after he has exposed himself as a spokesman for extremists and terrorists?
“Generally Muhammadu Buhari’s bias is so obvious that even Lai Mohammed is getting embarrassed.
“Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association have made the most provocative statements on TV, including that ‘Nigeria belongs to the Fulani’, made by its chairman Abdullahi Bodejo on June 8, 2020, yet Buhari did not suspend those stations that interviewed him.
“But he suspends Channels TV for interviewing an IPOB spokesman? Where is the justice? How long can Nigeria survive this 5% versus 97% partiality? This is Decree Number 4 and we must reject it”.
