INSECURITY: Massacre in Benue by suspected Fulani Herdsmen

Eyewitnesses have confirmed that Fulani herdsmen on Thursday May 27, 2021, killed over 36 people in Katsina Ala, Benue.

They allegedly invaded the communities in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Based on the recent massacre, over 150 people have reportedly been killed in Benue in the last seven days by heavily armed Fulani Herdsmen, according to local sources.

An observer said, “last time I checked, there is a Special Forces Command in Makurdi, there is the Air Force Tactical Air Command in Makurdi, there is a Department of State Security (DSS) Command in Makurdi and a Police Command to compliment.

“What do they discuss during the states security meetings? Who is lying to who?”

According to another observer: “There is a systematic genocide going on in the middle belt of Nigeria and it is largely under reported.”

An analyst noted: “Able bodied young men been slaughtered like chicken daily in Benue and Nigeria, and we are all comfortable going about our business. No value for human life. Oh! Nigeria is bleeding blood daily.”

While another added, “At this rate, I blame Governor Samuel Ortom. What is he waiting for before he gives these people arms to protect themselves from Fulani terrorists”.

Meanwhile the Police Command of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, have rescued the eleven abducted persons from captivity following a joint security operation led by the police force.

The victims who were recently abducted along Bwari Axis and held hostage at an unknown location by gunmen were rescued on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

The FCT’s joint security operation involving the police tactical squad, operatives of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) are said to have raided the criminals’ hideout, following actionable intelligence.

Authorities say members of local vigilantes and hunters also provided useful information and support in the operation.

One of the kidnappers was arrested by the police squad and efforts to apprehend others are ongoing.
