The Federal Government has on Friday, July 2, 2021, announced that the recently inaugurated Ebutte Metta – Apapa Rail will soon be shut down for three months.
The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi announced this while briefing the State House Correspondents on the achievements of President Buhari Administration in the transportation sector.
Ameachi however stated that the proposed shut down of the Ebutte meta – Apapa rail is to allow the contractor carry out major excavation works on a spot along the route.
The Minister also called for stiffer penalties against perpetrators of the incessant cases of rail tracks vandalism across the country saying such acts are detrimental to the common good of all.
Amaechi further noted that over ten thousand rail clips have either been damaged or removed by such vandals.
In the mean time, the Minister disclosed that the Federal Government has approved the Lekki Deep seaPort and it is expected to be completed in 2022.
