A source from the community who spoke with Elombahnews on the phone said the stern looking military officers stormed the community in a commando form and started shooting sporadically which warranted both the young and old to scamper for safety and businesses were shut down.

Meanwhile a community leader who also spoke with Elombahnews said the soldiers came in search of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, members who attacked the community.

This is coming after suspected members of the proscribed IPOB on June 1, 2021, attacked and set ablaze the home of Chief O. K Ugba, popularly known as Ishi Bu Mba, an illustrious son of the community.

The gunmen invaded his home and set his mansion and fleet of cars; G wagon., BMW X6., Range Rover, Sports utility ablaze before escaping from the scene.

The members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra had reportedly accused Chief Ugba of using the solar light system he erected at strategic spots in his community to spy on them.

The separatist movement said the solar light was laced with secret cameras and that was the reason why it was attacked.

Though, other sources said the man has not been in the good book of the group after he once announced in the community that the activities of the outlawed group will not be tolerated.

The announcement allegedly infuriated many members of the group who however marked Chief Ugba an enemy of their course.
