An armed robber who specialises in dispossessing unsuspecting motorists of their cars at gunpoint met his waterloo in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Monday, June 21, 2021 as youths in the area intensified their resolve to rid their town of criminal elements.

The robber, caught while attempting to snatch a car apparently ran out of luck as he was set ablaze by the vigilantes in the area.

This followed a similar treatment meted out to two others in Ozubulu on Sunday by men of  Obosi Vigilante group who were said to have chased the armed robbers all the way from Obosi until they caught up with them when the keke they were escaping with fell into a ditch along the Ekwusigo highway. The men of the Obosi vigillate services were said to have lynched two of the suspected robbers.

However, three of the suspects had been lucky to escape as two of their colleagues were sent to hell by the angry mob.

According to the group, the self-help crime fighting initiative had become necessary to check the menace of criminal elements who have made the once sleepy town an epicenter of violent robbery and cult activities.
Vigilante groups now appear to have filled the gaping void of law enforcement, especially in Nigeria’s South East the following attacks the police has suffered for months in the hands of the unknown gunmen ravaging the South-Eastern part of the country.
