Uduak Frank Akpan has made a stunning confession about how he recently killed young Iniobong Hiny Umoren under the guise of offering her a job.
The killer had lured the late graduate of the University of Uyo to his house Udo Udoma Avenue recently for a supposed job interview which turned out to be a hoax.
According to reports, instead of getting a job, she was rewarded with an untimely death as a clever Akpan, harbouring sinister motives, rough-handled her, before raping and killing her.
In a attempt to conceal the murder, he had proceeded to bury her in a shallow grave in their family compound and fled to the neighbouring Calabar in Cross River State.
However, Akpan would run out of luck as a concerted social media blitz mounted to unravel Umoren’s whereabouts forced the police into action. The result, was the unraveling of the mystery of the missing young lady who was discovered already stone-cold dead almost 24 hours earlier in the wicked hands of the 20-year old Akpan.
A search of the address where she indicated she was going for a job interview she had earlier posted on social media had found her lifeless body in a hurriedly dug grave.
Her body currently lies in the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) mortuary in Uyo while investigations continue.
But a new dimension was Wednesday added to the case when Akpan on interrogation finally confessed and made some very startling revelations.
He said the murder of Umoren was not his first, and that killing of unsuspecting young people was actually a family business!
He said his father introduced him, his sister, brothers and his girlfriend to the business years ago. Their modus operandi was for his sister and girlfriend to make friends with people, then invite to them their house for a visit, drug and then kill them.
He also told the police that the method of killing of their victims was through decapitation of their heads before dismemembering their other body parts for sale to ritualists.
The Akwa Ibom State Police anti-kidnapping team led by CSP Inenegiye Igosi had later discovered other long forgotten dead persons in several graves around the one where Umoren had been hastily buried.
