Abducted Wives of Niger District Head Regains Freedom

The wives of the District Head of Zungeru, Wushishi Local Government Area of Niger state (Madakin Zungeru), Mallam Mustapha Madaki who were abducted by gunmen some weeks ago have on Tuesday June 15, 2021, regained freedom.

The Nation gathered that the two women were released after they had paid N5 million, 100 handsets and 5 Bajaj motorcycles as ransom.

However, the District Head who was abducted alongside his wives is yet to regain freedom as the abductors are demanding more money for his ransom.

The amount being demanded is being kept under wraps by members of the community who are currently involved in the negotiation.

The Nation gathered that the community raised N5 million out of the N10 million initially demanded as ransom by the abductors.

A Source in the community said that negotiation is still ongoing to secure the release of the District Head.

It would be recalled that two weeks ago, gunmen stormed Zugeru to abduct the District Head and his two wives from their home.

The gunmen had stormed Zugeru town with their motorcycles and went to the house of the District Head on foot where they took the man and his wives without any resistance from anybody.

As of the time of this report, the two wives were admitted in a medical centre for treatment and observation.
